Abstract
The nonlinear dynamics of the indirect excitons in a bilayer system with an in-plane harmonic trap is investigated here. According to the nonlinear equation for the diffusion of the indirect excitons in this kind of system, the two-dimensional densities of the indirect excitons are calculated. The calculations show that the densities of the excitons adjacent to the trap center for different temperatures can remain very high even long after the photo-excitation due to the confinement of the in-plane harmonic trap. The indirect excitons can gather several tens of upmum away from the trap center. It is the in-plane harmonic trap that can keep the indirect exciton gas very dense.
