Abstract
A nanocrystalline quaternary Mg2Ni-based powder was formed after 15h of high energy ball milling. At longer milling times, an amorphous phase is form in the case of ternary and quaternary milled products as well. Electrode made from 20h milled product with quaternary composition of Mg1.75Nb0.125Al0.125Ni and microstructure consisting of the dominant Mg2Ni-based nanocrystallites and minor amorphous phase showed the superior initial discharge capacity and longest discharge life.
