Abstract
The novel photoluminescence of Bi3+-doped strontium chloroapatite nano-powder sample prepared through sol–gel process has been presented in this paper. The reaction temperature is lower than that of conventional solid-state reaction. The average particle size is found to be about 50 nm by transmission electron microscopy. Strong blue emission light can be obtained under UV excitation within a broad range from 340 to 390 nm. The asymmetry excitation spectrum of doped sample can be decomposed into two excitation bands, which are attributed to the different crystal lattice environments of the two diverse cationic sites in apatite.
