Abstract

In this paper, we report a microwave assisted solid state metathesis reaction to obtain nano-sized particles of alkaline-earth hydroxyapatites, A10(PO4)6(OH)2 where A = Sr and Ba. The solids were characterized by powder XRD, FTIR, TGA, DTA, particle size measurements, SEM, EDAX and TEM to ascertain their phase homogeneity and particle size distribution.
