Abstract
A rapid and convenient polyol method with microwave irradiation was proposed to synthesize ternary chalcogenide nano-crystal, CuCr2Se4, in this study. Nano-crystalline CuCr2Se4 was formed from the chemical reaction in the mixture of cuprous chloride, chromium acetate, metallic selenium and poly ethylene glycol under microwave irradiation in argon atmosphere. Crystalline phases were identified with X-ray diffraction analysis and crystal size and morphology were examined by transmission electron microscopy. The result from thermal magnetometric analysis indicated that Curie temperature of nano-sized CuCr2Se4 was 445 K with a single phase.
