Zn–Se heterojunctions were fabricated by electrodeposition within the pores of nanoporous etched ion-track membranes by template synthesis. The morphology of heterojunctions was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the structures were observed to be heterojunctions of Zn and Se (metal–semiconductor). The I–V characteristics of heterojunctions were measured at room temperature by leaving the heterostructures embedded in the insulating template membrane and the characteristics were observed to be like those of resonant tunneling diodes (RTDs) along with a significant peak to valley current ratio. This ratio was found to reduce with decreasing diameter of RTDs.
