Abstract
We present a simple physical model describing the optical properties of periodic planar metallic nanostructures in terms of equivalent oscillating-current resonant circuits, which explain the total light absorption phenomenon in different plasmonic nanostructures on a common physical ground by referring it to the impedance matching condition at the plasmon resonance. This model can be easily adapted to describe different resonant nanostructures exhibiting total absorption of light at plasmon resonances.
