Abstract

Self-assembly of a rigid tripyridyl linker with a bidentate 90° Pt(II) acceptor yielded a somewhat unusual double square cage, representing the first example of Pt(II) cage of such shape. Multinuclear NMR as well as single-crystal structure analysis characterized the cage.
