Nanotechnology promises revolutionary solutions for all kinds of problems, including poverty related. But will its potentials also be of use for development? In this stage of the research process only an exploration of the field is possible, of the eventual applications of nanotech in favour of development and poverty reduction, and of the eventual dilemmas that could grow because of nanotech. If they will really benefit developing countries depends, amongst others, from science and research policies in both the South and the North.
