Abstract

Monometallic (Au, Ni, Co, Fe, Pd) and bimetallic (Au-Ni, Au-Fe, Au-Co, Au-Pd) nanocomposites were prepared by the solvated metal atom dispersed (SMAD) method. The nanocomposites structure was estimated via TEM, XRD, XPS and the nanocomposites catalytic activity was measured in the allylbenzene isomerization at 170 °Ñ. Monometallic Au and Pd catalysts showed good activity in the allylbenzene isomerization, while monometallic Ni, Co and Fe ones were totally inactive. Bimetallic Au-Fe, Au-Co, Au-Pd catalysts activity could be described as sum of gold activity and the second metal (M) activity. Bimetallic Au-Ni nanocomposites possessed a strong synergetic effect in the allylbenzene isomerization, i.e. at the same Au/M molar ratio the activity of the Au-Ni catalysts in comparison with that of SMAD Pd, Au-Pd, and Au is higher by 50, 100 and 500 times, respectively. The reasons of the synergetic phenomenon are discussed.
