Abstract

Nanocomposites containing Au-Fe clusters have been prepared by a sequential solvated metal atom dispersion process followed by air oxidation and have been characterized by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy at room temperature and by Mossbauer spectroscopy in the range 25–300 K. The results are interpreted in terms of the formation of 3-nm Au-Fe intermetallic clusters and 8-nm iron oxide clusters.
