Abstract
We have inquired optical transmission and reflection due to resonant tunneling through nanometal/dielectric multilayers using a standard transfer matrix method. The transfer matrix method for the resonant modes in nanometal/dielectric multilayers; describes well the splitting of resonant modes and can forecasts the frequencies of split resonant modes in the transmission spectra of the nanometal/dielectric multilayers. Also we have showed that the transmittance of a nanometal/dielectric multilayer increased as the thickness of the surface metal layers decreased. Moreover, we showed that the transmittance has a variation as a function of the electronic density of metals.
