Abstract

We haveobservedmagneticanisotropyinbulkNd55_xCoxFe30Al10B5 (x¼10, 15and20)alloysprepared by coppermoldsuctioncastingmethodwithapresenceofexternalmagneticfield(quenchingfield) m0H¼0.25 T.Bychangingdirectionofthemeasuringfieldfromperpendiculartoparallelonein comparisonwiththatofthequenchingfield,coerciveforceofthealloysslightlydecreaseswhile remanentmagnetizationandsquarenessofhysteresisloopincreasemoreclearly.Itisalsofoundthat the higherCo-concentrationinthealloysthelargermagneticanisotropyisinduced.Thestructure analysesmanifestnanocrystallineparticlesembeddedinresidualamorphousmatrixofthealloys.The size oftheparticlesisinrangeof10–30nmandtheircrystallinephasesconsistofNd2(Fe,Co)14B, Nd3Co, Nd3Al, NdAl2 and Nd.
