Abstract

Fe 73 Si 16 B 7 Nb 3 Cu 1 soft magnetic powder was crystallized to obtain a nano grain structure and mixed with a fine charcoal powder. The mixtures were tape-cast with polymer-based organic binders to form a sheet-type electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption composite. The EM wave absorption properties of the sheets were investigated using a network analyzer. The results showed that addition of charcoal powder improved the EM-absorbing properties of the composite. The power loss of the EM wave was directly related to the imaginary part of the permeability and permittivity, and it was reviewed in detail. Excellent absorption properties were achieved by adding 5 wt % charcoal powder (−500 mesh) to the Fe-based sheets.
